Cleaning Day 2019
The American Martial Arts Institute's annual Cleaning Day took place on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Instructors in our school are not paid, rather they are advanced students (adult black belts) who have chosen the path of teaching the style can be passed to another generation. This is sometimes referred to as "completing the circle." In addition to teaching, the instructors take care of our "Second Home", the training hall. During the year they work together to clean the facility, take care of basic repairs, and make improvements. One day each year, Grandmaster Crandall and Master Stalloch open up the opportunity to care for our school to the students (brown belts and black belts of all ages, and purple belts ages 18 and older). This year the dozens of students and instructors were able to wash all equipment, carpet clean the floors, wash and clean all windows and sills, dust the air vents, scrub the 7 bathrooms, wipe down all walls from top to bottom, clean the registers and baseboard, paint and touch up walls and trim, and make many repairs. This is only a small portion of what was achieved through the combined efforts of the staff and students. Below are a few pictures of the day's accomplishments:
