Honorary Pink Belt
On Thursday, June 1st, Grandmaster Crandall of the American Martial Arts Institute visited the WKTV newsroom to present producer Katrina Smith with her honorary pink belt and certificate. The pink belt program was created by Grandmaster Crandall to involve his students, ages 5 to 85, in promoting cancer awareness within our community.
This can be done in many ways, including volunteering at a cancer awareness event, or taking a short research exam which makes them more knowledgeable about cancer. Students who complete one of three options in their effort to promote community awareness are recognized by receiving and becoming certified as pink belt ranked.
Community agencies and individuals who become involved with the pink belt program, and in doing so help spread cancer awareness, can be recognized in this program with an honorary pink belt. Grandmaster Crandall was pleased to honor Katrina Smith of WKTV, who promoted community awareness for the pink belt program, with her honorary pink belt and certificate.
