RESOURCES

This section has resources to assist you in your training. Your greatest resource is your instructor. You should seek them out for help with your questions.

YOUR MARTIAL ARTS LIBRARY

Martial arts is 90% mental. Through training we can improve mind-body unification. We seek to arm the mind with knowledge that make make a positive difference in our training, safety, and personal choices. Students are encouraged to build their own personal martial arts library. The American Martial Arts Institute has published and produced numerous books and videos on the topics of martial arts and personal safety. A few of these are required to purchase and read or view prior to certain rank testings. Brown belt and black belt ranks include written exams from some of these materials. And, some of these resources serve as a refresher for personal practice outside of regularly scheduled classes with your instructor. Not all publications are required. All ranks and ages are permitted to purchase and utilize all of our school's publications (you do not need to wait until you are a "higher rank" to get them).

REQUIRED MATERIALS
1) American Martial Arts Institute Guidebook - required at white belt to test for your first rank

2) American Eagle Style Instruction Textbook - required to test for 3rd rank brown

3) American Eagle Style Self-Defense, Volume 1 DVD - required to test for 2nd rank brown

4) Leadership Piece by Piece - required to test for 1st rank brown

5) Be Safe Physically and Mentally with the Crandall System - required for 1st degree black belt

6) Reflections of a Grandmaster - required to test for 1st degree black belt

STRONGLY RECOMMENED

1) Seiza Waza and Standing Waza DVD - recommended for purple, brown, and black belts

2) American Eagle Style Extension Tool Katas DVD - recommended for brown and black belts

3) Anatomy and Physiology Coloring Book (not produced by our school - recommended for black belts)

ADDITIONAL PUBLICATIONS FROM OUR SCHOOL

Our school also has textbooks and videos for the cane, kendo, and iaido styles. We have resources for self-defense, children, and individuals with disabilities. See our publications page for a complete listing, and speak with your instructor for more information. For example, Self-Defense Techniques and Awareness in a Changing World DVD is 2-hours of self-defense techniques for all levels including grabs, knife, gun, rifle, seated, and ground fighting techniques taught by Grandmaster Crandall and Master G. Stalloch.

ADDITIONAL MARTIAL ARTS LIBRARY RESOURCES
Expanding your knowledge about the martial arts is not limited to our school's publications. Students are encouraged to speak with their instructor about recommendation or seek out books, videos, articles, or reliable internet resources for their own library.

On this website we have more than 8-hours of interviews and demonstrations from the Martial Arts Today Show, full Safety and Awareness Today Show episodes, PSAs including the ones with Ronald McDonald and Grandmaster Crandall, a full 1-hour of self-defense technique videos, articles from magazines, and much more.
