RE-OPENING GUIDELINES

We are excited to share with you how we will reopen our doors for in person instruction.


Please take the time to read this entire post and contact Headmaster Stalloch directly by email at contact@amai-eaglestyle.com with any questions. As guidelines and regulations continue to be updated, this post will be updated to reflect how we are in compliance.

We understand that it is a lot of information, but it is very important that you familiarize yourself with all of this information.


We are pleased to be a professional service that provides instruction which improves our members health, awareness, personal safety, self confidence, self esteem, self awareness, and mental and emotional well-being.

SECTION ONE: NY FORWARD SAFETY PLAN


From New York State's Department of Health:

"Each business or entity, including those that have designated as essential under Empire State Development's Essential Business Guidance, must develop a written Safety Plan outlining how its workplace will prevent the spread of COVID-19."


We have a written SAFETY PLAN on file at our location, 8382 Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford, NY 13413.


Some of the specifics of this plan can be found below because you will need to follow these protocols in order to enter the building and participate in your assigned session.


SECTION TWO: SCHEDULE TO RETURN

  • In order to meet social distancing and density reduction guidelines, students will have an assigned in-person session once per week.

  • We have safety protocols in place that will need to followed.

  • The process for entering the building, participating in your assigned session, and exiting the building can be found below in section three.

  • For any student who does not feel comfortable returning for their available in person session, we will continue to provide instruction through our members only section.

  • The schedule is designed to prioritize rank and age considerations. Therefore, this schedule takes precedence over the convenience of family members of different ranks and ages being able to train on the same day and in the same time slot.

  • The schedule below is going to be "phased in"; meaning, we are posting the full schedule now, but we will not be bringing everyone back all at once. We will notify you by email when you should start to follow this schedule. It is being posted now in its entirety so that you may start to anticipate your assigned session day and time.

  • In the future, when regulations and health considerations permit, we will expand this schedule and flexibility. But for now, there will be one opportunity per week to attend,

IMPORTANT NOTE: We are posting the entire schedule now. However, DO NOT attend until you receive an email from Headmaster Stalloch informing you that you may do so.


SCHEDULE BY TIMES

The following is a timeline for each training session night.


5:30 pm

Headmaster Stalloch arrives and prepares the building for entry. Doors remain closed.


5:45 pm

Instructors assigned to assist in the night's sessions will arrive.


5:50 pm

Doors Open to Students, Screening, and Check-In (see section three for details)


6:00 pm

Fall In


6:00 to 6:45 pm

Training Session One See Your Designated Rank and Age below to see if this is your assigned time

6:45 pm

Students Bow Out and are dismissed by zones to exit the building

Building is now closed to students until 7:20 pm.


6:45 to 7:20 pm

Cleaning. Our staff will clean all surfaces in accordance with our SAFETY PLAN

SCHEDULE BY RANK AND AGE

The following are designated training sessions, which occur based on age and rank.

NOTE: Again, DO NOT ATTEND UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED TO DO SO BY EMAIL.

This schedule was designed to decrease density. This ensures that we can social distance following guidelines and our written SAFETY PLAN.


MONDAY

5:50 to 6:45 pm (Session One): Black Belts, ages 17 and under.

7:20 to 8:15 pm (Session Two): Black Belts, ages 18 and older.

TUESDAY

5:50 to 6:45 pm (Session One): Brown Belts, ages 17 and under.

7:20 to 8:15 pm (Session Two): Brown and Purple Belts, ages 18 and older.


WEDNESDAY

5:50 to 6:45 pm (Session One): Green, Blue and Purple Belts, ages 17 and under.

7:20 to 8:15 pm (Session Two): White, Yellow, Green, and Blue Belts, ages 18 and older.


THURSDAY

5:50 to 6:45 pm (Session One): White, Orange, and Yellow Belts, ages 17 and under.

7:20 to 8:15 pm (Session Two): American Eagle CANE Style students, ages 18 and older.


FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY: Our facility is closed at this time.


ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT THE SCHEDULE TO RETURN

Session One for each night are ages five through 17 years of age.

Students will be divided among training rooms 1, 2, and 3 according rank or age considerations and planned instruction for the evening. During Session One, a parent or legal guardian may observe if they choose to. This is limited to one per family unless pre-approved by Headmaster Stalloch. This is part of our reduced density and social distancing plan. A single observer is permitted for this session because students in this group are legal minors under the age of 18.

Session Two for each night are ages 18 and older.

Therefore, no observers are permitted during classes for ages 18 and older. This is also part of our decreased density and social distancing plan.


SECTION THREE: GUIDELINES THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED

FOR YOU TO RETURN IN-PERSON

Please take the time to ready this entire section carefully so that you are familiar with our guidelines for returning to your assigned in-person session.


Your Assigned Session Day and Time

  • See the above schedule for your assigned day and time for your age and rank.

  • There is only one opportunity per week (this will change in the future)

  • If you are uncomfortable attending in-person at this time, you may continue to utilize the member's only section. Please stay in contact with Headmaster Stalloch.

  • You will be notified by email when you may return.

Arriving to Class and Checking In

  • Arrive before your designated time, so that you are ready to enter when our doors open.

  • Do not congregate in groups outside of the facility. Practice social distancing and wear approved masks.

  • If possible, arrive dressed, in uniform, and ready to step out onto the floor. If you are coming from work, you may use our changing rooms individually, but otherwise, these rooms will be closed.

  • Do not bring sparring gear bags at this time. You will not be using this gear at this time.

  • Doors open 10 minutes prior to class.

When you Enter the Building:

  • You must already be wearing an approved mask that covers your nose and mouth.

  • You will have your temperature taken using a contactless thermometer that is pointed at the forehead.

  • You must be COVID 19 symptom free.

  • Instructor will take attendance. You do not scan in

  • Put your shoes on the shoe rack

  • Use hand sanitizer or sink to wash hands

  • Immediately proceed to your assigned area on the floor (an instructor will tell you where to go). You must stay in your "zone" so that you are socially distanced.

  • Bring a water bottle if you want something to drink. Water fountains are closed.

  • Bring your signed, updated membership form with you prior to your first in-person session. These will be emailed to you soon. See below for more details.

Parents or Legal Guardians Observing:

  • You must be wearing an approved mask that covers your nose and mouth.

  • Your temperature will be taken using a contactless thermometer that is pointed at the forehead.

  • You must be COVID 19 symptom free.

  • You must sit in one of the designated seats which are spaced appropriately. Do not move chairs.

  • Use hand sanitizer or wash hands after entering

  • Please limit contact with surfaces.

  • Limited to one observer per family, unless you get pre-approval from Headmaster Stalloch.

  • If you are comfortable doing so, we ask you to consider waiting in a car or outside, or returning. If you want to observe, you may if your student is 17 years of age or younger. If you do choose to drop off and pick up your student, please be prompt. We must have students exit the building in order to clean it.

Membership Form

  • All members will be emailed an updated membership form.

  • This must be printed, filled out, and (if under 18 years of age) signed by a legal guardian. Those over 18 may sign for themselves.

  • This form must be filled out PRIOR to your first in-person session. You will be asked to hand it in to the instructor the first time you arrive.

Current Membership Registration

For any student whose membership has expired, the following will apply.

  • You may attend your first in-person session without re-registering.

  • You will take home the relevant paperwork after your first session.

  • Then next week you must re-new your membership or you will not be permitted to participate.

  • If your membership expired, Headmaster Stalloch emailed you in mid-May.

Assigned Sessions

  • There will be NO direct physical contact between students or with instructors

  • Students will be socially distanced in the building and the training space

  • Stretching will be modified so that there is no contact between students

  • Examples of modifications: no sparring with a partner, no self defense with a partner, no punching shields held by an instructor, no sharing equipment that has not been cleaned by an instructor.

  • Please bring a water bottle if you want a drink before or after class. The fountains are closed. In addition, drinking will require removing your mask. Therefore, your bottle is for you to use before or after class outside of the building.

As you already know, and as is documented in the 3rd Edition of our School Textbook and the Be Safe Physically and Mentally with the Crandall System, our instructional methods do not permit physical contact between an instructor and student. In addition, you know that we have always required students to be able to demonstrate their knowledge and development, including self defense and sparring skills, WITHOUT A PARTNER. Therefore, we will continue to instruct without physical contact. Students, you will see this strictly adhered to in our training sessions.


When Class Ends

  • We ask that you use the hand sanitizer and exit promptly.

  • Please do not congregate outside.

  • Do not remove masks until at your car.

  • If you need to speak with an instructor, privately, we have a process for this. We will inform you during your first session on how this will work to maintain social distance.

Uniforms

  • Wash your uniform prior to returning to the next in person session

Training Outdoors

  • When weather permits, we may train outside in designated areas. This will allow us to spread out even more.

  • All above guidelines will need to be followed. The benefit will be increased air circulation and greater social distancing opportunities.

  • Therefore, wear socks and sneakers that can be secured to every class; no dress shoes, no sandals, no crocs, no flip flops, etc...


SECTION FOUR: TRAINING AND TESTINGS

This section provides a brief overview of your continued training as we re-open and testings.


First, within the first two weeks of returning, all students will be evaluated as to their current skill level.


Second, within the first two weeks of returning, any student who tested before we closed our physical doors will receive their belt or rank tip.


Third, within the first two weeks of returning, any student who does not have their highest kata or all of their highest katas will receive one in its entirety from a Master Instructor or their instructor.


Fourth, students who are in good standing and who have been training with us through the members only section...the time you have spent training has counted toward your minimum time requirements for testing eligibility.


Fifth, we will be scheduling more than one testing in the near future and those who are ready and meet our requirements, will be recommended to test


Sixth, About Your Instructor. You all have an instructor.

However, your instructor may not be present on the day you are assigned to attend a session. What does this mean for your training?

Understand what an instructor is within our school; they are an adult black belt who has accepted the responsibility to assist Grandmaster Crandall in your training (an undergone a certification process to do so). They are your mentor, but Grandmaster Crandall is the head of our school. Beneath Grandmaster Crandall directly is Headmaster Stalloch and the other Master Instructors. During our phased in re-opening, Grandmaster Crandall and Headmaster Stalloch are personally overseeing ALL students, as they have been through our members only section. The Master Instructors will be assisting them. You are still a student under your instructor (that has not changed). BUT for the foreseeable future, you may not see them in person. We will keep them informed about your training. If you have questions, contact Headmaster Stalloch.


Members Only Section

  • Finally, you have one assigned day and time for a live session.

  • However, you may continue to utilize the members only section at this time.

  • If you are uncomfortable returning in person at this time, you may continue to use the members only section.

  • This means, you have one live session, but you may continue to train at home multiple days per week.

SECTION FIVE: CLEANING

We will be cleaning the training hall following our written SAFETY PLAN.

A message from Grandmaster Crandall:



QUESTION 1: Are we accepting new members?

Answer: YES! White belts have an assigned session time, so this is possible. We have been able to accept new members through our website this entire time, giving them access to our members only section. Our PRIORITY, is our current students. But, in short, YES, we will accept new members, and now is a great time for them to join. More about this in the near future.
