Father's Day Class

On Friday, June 17, 2016 the American Martial Arts Institute held our annual Father's Day Classes. These special classes allow families to train together for one night. Students may bring their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other male guardians, and students who are fathers can bring their children. This year 22 family members trained together, practicing punches, kicks, basic forms, katas, and self-defense, but more importantly, they shared in the excitement and camraderie that traditional martial arts promote. The American Martial Arts Institute is a traditional martial arts school, and as such, it upholds the historic philosophy that martial artists have a responsibility to their school and their community. Part of this responsibility is to make a positive difference in the world, to be a leader. One of the ways that this school has chosen to fulfill this obligation is by sharing knowledge regarding health, awareness, and personal safety. Women's Self Defense Class

On, Tuesday, June 14, the American Martial Arts Institute through Secure Living Online presented a one-hour Women's Self-Defense Class focused on physical techniques to escape assault scenarios. The class was led by Grandmaster Crandall with assistance from Master Stalloch. Several other black belt instructors also came to assist including Master Morris, Master Chuff, Master Freleigh, Mrs. G. Stalloch, and Mr. Mizgala. Techniques covered included center kick and side kick (targeted to the knee), throat grab, wrist grab, bear hug, choke hold, sleeve grab, and others. Time was also taken to cover concepts involving guns and knives. Below are some pictures from the class.

Cleaning Day

The American Martial Arts Institute teaches the traditional martial arts: American Eagle Style, Takenouchi-Hangan-Ryu-Matsuno-Crandall Iaido, and American Cane System. Traditional martial arts schools must maintain a delicate balance if they are to stand the test of time and be passed from one generation to the next, allowing the style to be perpetuated, unaltered, so that those who become its students in the future receive the same joys, benefits, challenges, and experiences of growth that those who came before them did.
