Camaraderie in a Traditional School
January 24, 2011 |
The American Martial Arts Institute is a traditional school, and this means that it is much more than kicking, punching, and katas. Traditional schools maintain high standards for its students so that each generation receives the same benefits and joys of training that the last generation experienced. This extends much deeper than physical techniques. It requires a positive and supportive attitude. Students should care for one another and their school. They should be supportive, encouraging, and function as a cohesive unit.
On January 24th, 2011, the Albany location of the American Martial Arts Institute held a colored belt testing for two students testing for orange belt: Nicholas Sterge and Bryan Sterge. This testing was attended by several black belt instructors and black belt, brown belt, and colored belt students who had come to watch this testing. They came to watch in order to provide their positive thoughts and energy. They were there to demonstrate their camaraderie and excitement for their fellow students. While the results of the testing will not be posted immediately, a group picture was taken following the testing and is below. The testing was run by Grandmaster Crandall, who traveled from the main location in Utica.
