Those who test for sixth degree must be an instructor who has demonstrated the personal growth and development that is essential to American Eagle Style’s traditional philosophy.
The testing for sixth degree is very involved, and the testing itself spans a period of five months. The criteria covered includes a booklet of twelve questions which must be researched and answered in essay form, that cover not only American Eagle Style and our school but many other styles around the world, as well. Once submitted, these questions are discussed in detail over the course of several hours with the Grandmaster.
At the time of this testing, each individual has acquired at least 42 forms of American Eagle Style. For the physical portion of their testing, they must demonstrate proficiency at performing the five required forms to test for sixth degree: Cheongwon, Gekisai, SipJin, Heian 5 and Bassai Sho, as well as demonstrate familiarity with moves from katas using 6 different weapons that are utilized in our school. These are only a few of the requirements of this testing.
With all of this in mind, we are pleased to announce that as of February 3, 2010, one individual completed the requirements and was presented their red tip for sixth degree black belt.
Having successfully competed his testing, the following individual was promoted to sixth-degree by Grandmaster Crandall:
Eric Stalloch------6th Degree, Black Belt
Mr. Eric Stalloch received his belt tip on February 3, 2010, but he will receive his certificate of rank at a formal recognition in April 2010 at the Ceremonial Black Belt Breakfast. Congratulations to this dedicated student of American Eagle Style.
