Black Belt Testing

Those who test for sixth degree must have a minimum time requirement of three years at the rank of fifth degree.  This allows the individual, who must be an instructor to test for sixth degree, the necessary time for personal growth and development that is essential to American Eagle Style’s traditional philosophy.

The testing for sixth degree is very involved, and the testing itself spans a period of five months.  The criteria covered includes a booklet of twelve questions which must be researched and answered in essay form, that cover not only our style and school but many other styles around the world as well.

At the time of this testing, each individual has acquired at least 42 forms of American Eagle Style.  For the physical portion of their testing, they must demonstrate proficiency at performing the five required forms to test for sixth degree: Cheongwon, Gekisai, SipJin, Heian 5 and Bassai Sho, as well as demonstrate familiarity with moves from katas using 6 different weapons that are utilized in our school.

With all of this in mind, we are pleased to announce that as of September 4th, 2008, one individual completed the requirements and was presented their tip for sixth degree black belt.

Having successfully competed their testing, the following individual was promoted by Grandmaster Crandall:

Sixth Degree Black Belt was Awarded to:

Mrs. Cheryl Freleigh------6th Degree, Black Belt

This individual received her belt tip on September 4, 2008, but she will receive her certificate of rank at a formal recognition on September 27th, 2008 at the Ceremonial Black Belt Breakfast.  Congratulations to this dedicated student of American Eagle Style.
