American Martial Arts Institute Volunteers Support the Runners

American Martial Arts Helps the Runners

The Utica Boilermaker road race has been a tradition in Utica, New York for the past twenty four years. It is renowned as being one of the best 15 Kilometer road races in the world. This year more than 4,500 volunteers dedicated their time and enthusiasm in support of the runners, and once again it was a fantastic day.

The American Martial Arts Institute was proud to sponsor a water station again this year. Supervised by Mr. Eric Stalloch, ten volunteers worked for 2 1/2 hours and handed out 45 gallons of water, ten bags of ice, and 360 orange slices to runners.

Among these runners were several members of the American Martial Arts Institute. Black belt instructors Mr. Peter Freedman and Mr. Mark Sanson joined students Nicole Stanulevich, Susan Dougherty, and Wallace Ramsey. The runners challenged themselves, had a lot of fun, and did a terrific job. Congratulations to all of the runners.

The event was also a lot of fun for the volunteers. It was truly a great opportunity for the students and their family members to get involved in the community and show their positive spirit.

The day concluded with a clean up session. Like so many other volunteers, they left the sight cleaner than they found it. A special thanks goes out to Anastasia Abraham, Adam Kaczor, Jeremy Cellini, Gisella Penree, and all of their family members who volunteered their time, and to Grand Master Crandall for donating all of the supplies.
