Junior Rank Demonstration Team Performs on March 8, 2001 Susanne Turner Nicole Stanulevich Dan Boak Zachary Keep Ian Ramsey The demonstration started out with Grand Master Crandall explaining a little about the martial arts and the school that they all represented. Then Ian Ramsey performed palgue 6 followed by Dan Boak doing Old Koreo and Nicole Stanulevich performing Chulgi 1. Then it was Zachary Keep performing traditional Takenouchi-Hangan-Ryu, the kata Ten-no-kata, with his sword. The performance up to this point thrilled the members of the girl scout troop and was only going to get better as Nicole and Ian performed Pattern One with the escrima sticks. Then Amanda Fiore and Susanne Turner both demonstrated some of the "Just Get Away" moves taught in
many schools in Central New York. Both of these students are part of the Junior Black Belt
assistant instructors program and assist with the "Just Get Away" program when it is offered in
public and parochial schools as well.
At this point it was time for some breaking. Ian led the breaks with a powerful break
through three boards on concrete blocks with a palm heel strike. Dan followed with a combination
break with a side kick through one board and a shuto through one that was braced on two cinderblocks.
The last break was Nicole doing a jump center kick roughly nine feet into the air breaking a board
held by Grand Master Crandall and Amanda Fiore who were standing on two chairs.
After this, questions were answered for the audience of girl scouts, advisors and parents.
Each girl scout was given a copy of one of Grand Master Crandalls books on safety.
A fun time for the girl scout troop and the members of the American Martial Arts Institute.
